Today I rigged my new (to me) sail, brand new Fiberspar 220-275 Carbon Boom, and a brand new Neil Pryde X5 520cm 85% carbon mast. Wow, this sail is massive!! I was sitting around the house deciding what to do (thinking it was supposed to rain) then grabbed my gear from the garage. It took me about 20 minutes to rig this sail!! I had a really hard time getting the cambers on the mast. I know of a couple of tricks already to speed it up for next time. Should be able to get the rigging time down to about 5 minutes or so. Next time I'll spray the mast with some dry silicone spray, avoiding the boom area of course and get a downhaul CRANK to do the tough work. This sail is just too hard on the hands!! Really looking forward to try my new sail out soon.
The river is starting to open up nicely now, so I'll probably get out this week sometime.

Any takers?

I need to get one of those cranks. Totally handy. I can't downhaul my sail enough on my own, and I think Allen is tired of doing it for me. smiley

That is one HUGE sail! smiley

Hey Guin! Yes, you really should get one. I'm sure they have them at Boardsports on Younge St. or Silent Sports in Thornhill.

See Ya,

Hey Woody, welcome to the 10m2 + club. Larry got himself a 10.6m V8, he is kickin butt on it. I got the good old 2002 Loft O2 10.8, works well still, the loft has a huge range. :) Can't wait to go sailing... Any news on Madeleaine island housing?

Boo!
If your sails get any longer you are going to have to add onto your deck just to set them up :P
Was thinking..The initials WSW would make a great logo on tshirts, hats etc ;)
Hugs to you .. big Sis.. xox

Look's huge woody....... but sail's very nice....... Love the adjustable out-haul.... Mine is an 03, V-8, 10.6 Got broken in Well in Corpus.....
I was noticing in my Van Saturday....... My sailbag's are now longer than My Board bag's.......

I alsoi Got a 9.8 V-8...... But not sure if I will really need it...... Rather trade it for a new 8.5 or so......
Later..... Larry..... TEAM USA.....

Wow! What a sail! I am Very Impressed! I'll bet you want to go down to the river to try it out--knowing you!
Another 3 or 4 weeks and the ice should be leaving and then the fun starts!!
love Mom xoxox smiley
