You are looking at the new 'windsurfing-road-machine' for The Woody's!!
Today I was informed by my bosses in Thunder Bay that I had the winning bid for this van! AWESOME!!!! My bosses also told me "We know how important windsurfing is in keeping 'balance' in your life, and we want to encourage you to keep it up". I thought that was so cool of them to think that way. Nice eh!
The van is a 1978 Dodge 1 ton with duely's on the back. This machine has only 87,000 miles on it, has been serviced regular, and is mechanically in sound shape. I think it has a 318 V8 or 360 V8 engine in it! It even has a ladder to the roof where a small deck is!! Too Cool!!
Now this is the best part!! YOU, yes YOU get to name it!! Every vehicle needs a name, and this van needs a really cool name, so I'm counting on all of you for suggestions!!

Have fun in life smiley

How about some of these?

More Names for the Surf Mobil:
"Blue Goose Shag Express"
"Team World Traveller"
We could make a yellow cross on the blue Van and make it the official Swedish flag, that would work great if I owned it for TEAM SWEDEN. :)
Somehow we should make it "TEAM WORLD WAGON" or something like that... Could you paint all the flags represented from Team World on the side, and just Call it "TEAM WORLD Mothership"

Had a great session yesterday at Big Creek, 15-20 MPH wind, 64 degrees in water, (16-17 degrees celcius) Sailed the new Neilpryde RS-2 9.8m sail and BIC Formula, yeihaaa !!!! I bet we still have a month worth of sailing here, it was almost 80 degrees yesterday....

- The Scooby Van
- The Mistral Machine

Posted by: Woody at October 19, 2005 8:06 PM

My suggestion:

The Woody Welle

Welle = German for wave (I think) so it's The Woody Wave. But 1/2 english, 1/2 german

Posted by: Guinevere at October 19, 2005 8:12 PM

Schwaby, when are you getting your work done!! Wow you can shelter alot of people from a tornado with that one Woody!!
Our vote goes to the sailor trailer or big blue.
Definetly not the Poseidon! Can't wait to see what you guys end up with. Like the idea of the flags painted on it - you've got LOTS of room to work with. smiley

Posted by: Links at October 19, 2005 8:50 PM

The Woody's Welle.......Perfect. smiley

Posted by: Big Al at October 19, 2005 9:55 PM

Posted by: surfy/shan at October 19, 2005 10:54 PM

After some serious discussion with Schwaby, it looks like the "Surfer Van" will need a nickname for the girls road trip next weekend to Winnipeg!!!

You can do it Larry!!!!! That is amazing!!!
I feel like buying myself some wheels just for the fun of naming it, and for the Girls World Tour! We'll start with Winnipeg, Lago de Garda, Africa... smiley

Posted by: Woodette at October 19, 2005 11:44 PM

"Girls World Tour" sounds awesome! Are we 'sailing' or just 'shopping'?

Posted by: surfy/shan at October 20, 2005 7:02 AM

Okay, I've narrowed it down to a few names now.
I'll be picking the "Surf Mobile" up on Friday!! So, after the 4 hr journey back from Thunder Bay, I'll have a better feel for what the name should be. Who knows, maybe after the 4 hr drive we might end up calling it "The Gas Guzzler", "The Bucket of Bolts", "Rattle and Hum", "Backfire Betty"!!??

smiley

Posted by: Woody at October 20, 2005 9:27 AM

Hahaha!

Posted by: Guinevere at October 20, 2005 5:24 PM

The wheels are here!! I'll be making a post shortly with the official name as well!!

Sweet ride.... smiley

Posted by: Woody at October 22, 2005 1:40 PM

Hey!!!!! or should I say EHHHHH Woody. Nice machine> Makes me want ta get one too. Found some computer trouble when I got back from Mille Lacs. I lost some stuff including email contacts and addresses etc. Heard ya got a machine so I had to check things out. How sweet it is. I guess ya gonna do some customizing...graphics, storage and shaggin' I mean sleeping quarters. I'll put the thinkin" cap on for the name but ya might already have one.
Windsurfin' this year for Daniel is over but I'm still hopin for 1 last blast. I wanna make it worth it.

Take care and will talk soon.

Hi Woody! The name "Into the Blue" just jumped out at me and wouldn't go away! You go into the blue when you climb in the van and then sail into the blue with your boards!
Love Mom xoxo smiley smiley smiley

Posted by: yorkshire lass at October 23, 2005 7:40 PM

What is it named?! smiley

Posted by: Guinevere at October 26, 2005 5:07 PM

Okay, so I'm like really still undecided as to what to call 'it'. I thought I did, but it seems everytime I go out of the house to drive it, or just mention it, I'm calling the van a different name.

Here's my short list.

Blue Moose
Big Blue
The Beast
The Machine

Jump in with suggestions if you like

It's Sure To be a Hot Spot..... to Gather and share Fantastic Time's Togather..... We Have Had so Many Grate time's at the Blue Goose!!!!
Look Forward To Breaking the champaign on the....... "" Blue Moose ""
Larry... Team World - USA - IOWA

Posted by: Larry Reed at October 27, 2005 7:27 AM

I'm with Larry, because "The Blue Moose" symbolizes Water and being Canadian. Also the Moose regatta. The "Blue Goose" has a lot of character, so I'm sure will have the "The Blue Moose".

Posted by: Woodette at October 27, 2005 8:24 AM

I keep callling it "the beast" while it's nameless. I'll probably always call it that so that's my pick. How about "the blue beast"?

Posted by: surfy/shan at October 27, 2005 4:51 PM

From the short list, I like the Blue Moose. It'll be the official Moosefest windsurf regatta vehicle. smiley

Posted by: Guinevere at October 30, 2005 8:32 PM

Yo-mun,

Wonderful pick of names. I suppose ya gonna put that name on there in big letters so yo all can see. Blue Beast... Blue Moose might be interesting if ya park it near The Blue Goose at Mille Lacs, someone may cross out the "M" and put a big "G" there. I guess I am gonna get blamed if it happens. I might as well do it then. It would then be the origional "Goosefest Windsurf Regatta Vehicle" at Moosefest.

On a nother note Daniel & I sailed Saturday at the marsh and took advantage of the warm weather.

Take Care...tbayray smiley
