We're back from another fun-filled Worthington Windsurfing Regatta and The Unvarnished Music festival held together at Lake Okabena in Worthington, MN.
This trip was the maiden voyage for The Blue Moose since being 'pimped out' over the past few months at our place. The ol' surfmobile did rather well for the long trip! Only $500 in gas, one lost tail pipe, and a quart of oil!! A few squeeks and rattles need to be eliminated as well. Just great fun driving all the time though!!
The regatta was superbly run by Kevin Gratton from WI, and Jeff Hegwer from MN. We had crankin' winds for free riding on Friday with gusts in the 70km/hr range. The same winds for Saturday racing, but the air temperature dropped down as the day went on. Fog developed on the surface of the water while racing, and at one time all you could see were the sails of everybody, but no boards...very cool looking for sure!! Sunday the winds were a bit lighter, and the air a bit warmer as well.
Team World did very well in the hardware department with Uffe, Larry, Friedhelm and Margot all placing in the top three of their respective classes! Way to go you guys!! Paul raced very well too, just not sure of the final results. Me? Well I found out a couple of things while racing this past weekend. 1: Bring EVERYTHING you have when going to a regatta (my 4:3 steamer, my drysuit and my superlight) and 2: get on the water more (than I have) if you want to be competitive. I still had alot of fun!!
The main thing as always, is getting together with friends and making some memories for life!

Stay Cool smiley

The pictures are as follows top to bottom:

-fixing a noisy vent on the roof (not ruff)
-that's a 20" LCD TV in the Blue Moose rack!
-storing the sails for the night
-online outside with someone's wireles connection!!

I'm so glad I was there for the christening of the Blue Moose (I spilled the first beer inside). The racing was very exciting. It is so intense at the start, especially when you get run over (you owe me a Hacker Pschorr Bonnie). But the "Yahoos and Whoohoos" from the Team World members out on the race course is just so motivating and sure carries you through the work load waiting at home! Love to race!! smiley

Great trip guys! So nice to veg out with a beverage in the back of a chaufer driven moose - luxury!
The holes in my hands are starting to heal so I may start checking the wind forecasts again. Gotta get some endurance training in to keep up with Team World - puff puff.
