Relaxing after Saturday racing

It was a solid two days of wind with some gusts in the 50km/hr range! Ulf Jentler, member of "Team World" representing SWE, sailed hard to claim overall champion of the 2006 Moose Regatta! Way to go Swede!
Day 1 had longboards ruling the course for 3 morning races, then the formula guys were crankin' in the afternoons 2 races. Big sails seemed to be the ticket, with the top guys in the 10m+ range. Larry Miller (Minnesota) on his EquipeII and 10.4m sail was the leader after day 1 with Paul Matousek (Sioux Lookout) on his Equipe/10.8m sail in second place. Tied for third was Ulf Jentler (Iowa) on his Techno Formila/10.5m sail and me on my Superlite/10.4m sail combo. The superlite with NO foot straps in the afternoon races on Saturday was crazy!! I thought I was going to be catapulted at any moment with some of those gusts! It was alot of work to keep the ol' superlite under my feet!
Day 2 saw another 5 races and the top three positions changing hands every race it seemed. I was on my Mistral Prodigy (read: foot straps!) and was comfortable on course with my 10.4m sail even with the big gusts. Sure wish I had a gps on me, cause some of those reaches we must have been sailing over 30mph for sure!!
After all the dust settled and our two worst races were thrown out, The Swede was victorious!! I finished second overall with Larry Miller coming in third overall.
I want to say a big thank you to everyone who put so much effort in this regatta! Whether on the water racing, or helping behind the scenes to make it what it was...a HUGE success!! A special thanks to Mike and Rene from Fleet 8 for setting the courses and being RC.

There is something to be said about our "Sailor commitment" and all you guys travelling to the Moose regatta to be with us. The racing was very exciting! And even in the Sports class we had some awesome battles going on coming through the finish line. It was a ton of learning experience on how to sail and compete on the next level and again, windsurfing with Team World, just brings the best out of every sailor!

Was a fun time, and the winds were a blowing. Ask Josh, and that lady at the government dock with the fishing rod. smiley
