Canadians in Kingston - Day 1
The three amigo's
We stopped at the Terry Fox memorial statue for a shot of motivation in our quest...
We almost ran out of gas driving through the night from Wawa to Sault Saint Marie. There were some gas stations along this stretch, but nobody was open!! We had 10 litres of gas left in the tank and still 25km to the city, but found this one station open...WHEW!
A nice little pub close to CORK and our registration area. If you look closely you can see Doug Gilmour's hockey jersey hanging on the wall along with other notible Kingston hockey players.
Well just about two hours before we left for Kingston, the pirate himself, Steve Wells shows up and says "when are we leaving". So, with a little more arranging of gear in Paul's windsurf trailer to accomodate the pirates stuff, we were off on the road for the 22hr drive to Kingston. I took the first shift driving to Upsula, then Paul drove to Thunder Bay. Wellsy drove for a few hours after that, then we rotated in the same order with each of us driving 2-3 hrs at a time through the night and through the next day, until we arrived in Kingston. I probably only had 1hr of sleep the whole trip, so last night I was pretty tired. The Blue Moose would have been great for the sleeping part during the trip, but I'm afraid we'd probably still be on the road!!
Weather for today looks to be cool and light winds, but regardless of the forecast, we all all very eager to get on the water and "get 'er done"
