Mille Lacs Kite Crossing
Well here we are in Garrison, MN in the good ol' USA attending the Mille Lacs Kite Crossing. The conditions today as you can see from the pictures were BIG! Gusts to 50+km/hr with snow making for white out conditions. The race was postponed for today beacause of the near zero visibility, so we're hoping with tomorrow's forecasted lighter winds (30km/hr) that we'll get the race done and back home safe in good time.

The snow conditions are improving as each hour passses!! When we arrived at Mille Lacs yesterday the ice was BARE, as in NO snow! With these conditions I had a chance to ride IOWA Larry's ice board which was fun. I wish I had brought my ice board!!
Have fun everybody

Wow, that last picture really shows how windy and white-out the conditions really are. Looks dangerous and therefore fun.

Hey Guys, wish I could be there, got done with work late Friday night, but with the freezing rain it was not a good idea to drive 6hrs by myself through the night. Today (Sunday) we have gotten a foot of snow and everything is white outside. Hope you have some decent conditions today Sunday for the crossing.

I hope you guys loved what the midwest can dish out. We got the worst down here.. They have declared us a disaster area with power lines down, trees down, and lots of ice and snow. Dad was plowing for 12 hrs straight from 4am this morn to 4 pm this afternoon. Hope all makes it home safe

Great pics and a fun time for all participants at Mille Lacs and here at home at the Oak Hammock Marsh 'Wild Winter Weekend'. This kiting community we have is as much fun as the windsurfing community; many of the same people. I really appreciate remarks made by Woody on his endorsement of Winnipeg kiting. We had a lot of fun and it was nice to be able to show our stuff and have the privilege of having the 'Woodies' and Paul at our place. Hope to get together more often.
