4th Annual Moose(ette) Regatta!
What a wonderful weekend of camaraderie on and off the water at our annual Moose Regatta, which may now become better known as the 'Moosette Regatta' after 3 of the 4 classes were won by woman! With 25 on the line, we were thrilled to have 5 girls competing at the event, and kudos to them for coming out 'on top'. Andree from Toronto gave everyone a lesson in light air racing, while Lisa, Woodette & Surfy also beat up on the boys all weekend! Totally Awesome!! We managed to get in 9 races including our long distance race around Picnic Island. Winds were a little on the light side, but spirits were on high for all who attended!
This years regatta was just incredible with all the sacrifices of friends who travelled many hours to attend, our friends who made available their campers, boats, islands, gear, time and support...our gratitude runs deep. Thank you all for making this years Moose Regatta the "best yet"!!
When I get the hundreds and hundreds of pictures sorted out, I'll make a photo album in my gallery. In the meantime, here's a dozen or so pics to let you feel the vibe of this year's event.
Hitchin' a ride at the event site!
Doing what I do best...RIGGING (for the girls!!)!
Shayna was inspired by Rene and her sister Lisa Kremer to try windsurfing!
Friday night welcoming party at The Riverview Lodge

Catch me if you can! The only time I was in front of Andree was AFTER the race!!

Full moon sail to 'Happy Island' on Mitch Miller's 24' Shark. What a blast!
Happy Island Crew 2007. Hey look, Arnie is the only one talking!!
Race around Picnic Island

Woodette, Andree and Lisa holding the hardware. Girl Power Rules!!
We all drove to Paul's in the Blue Moose for a BBQ and bonfire on Monday night. Loads of fun!!
This picture really wraps up our whole weekend together. While we were at Paul's, Rene, Lisa and Shayna went out in the canoe, while Uffe and McKenzie paddled in kayaks off into the sunset. I watched from the shore to feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the past weekend...
Life is full of 'gifts'...you just have to open your eyes ![]()

Nice post to recap the weekend Woody! Got home around 2 am last night after a 13.5 hr drive (yeah I drove the whole way) Thanks again for a wonderful weekend with friends sharing our passion, sailing and having a good time. Can't wait for next year. If everyone brings 3 girls then the competition will be real tough 4 us.
